I JUST MET JOEL ( pronounced : ' You-elle ' , a Swedish name ) , and Sara that are visiting their family here in Washington D.C., and we spoke of many fun things : rock bands, Abba, heavy metal, stay-at-home-dads, Swedish television, vinyl, recordings, parents, fathers in particular that shops here and loves our BALTIKA beers! Yes!! You just never do know what the next moment will bring? I certainly do not. Check our Facebook page to see the picture I have posted of Joel and Sara.
JUST WENT OVER OUR ORDER of dry French roses with Oscar. We have two FABulous dry rose wines coming in Mrach , the 1) CAMBIS and the Chateau Tour De NERAUD, two that we had here last year, and two that we have championed for three or more years here now. Exciting.
JUST ENJOYED MY LUNCH from Nam Viet a couple of store-fronts down from here, their #61 that is their incredible Vietnamese noodles with chicken, pork, shrimp and so many great spices and herbs, what I call ' comfort food ' all day and all night long. Great job Ricky and team, THanks you.
IT HAS BEEN A WHIRLWIND so far today! All is well, and I have a story to share from yesterday when I went to see our mother. My brother Eric met us and that was nice , the three of us sharing a good moment together. I like that. We all feel better after having spent the time together. Nice.
I MET DICK for the first time. He was nice enough to come pick Eric up after our family visit. Dick drove up in a 2-seat BMW and that got my attention : lucky brother of mine to have such a nice drive home! I was in my sedan VOLVO with a sun-roof, so I cannot complain too much on a beautiful day?!
ANYWAY, I RECOGNIZED Dick's accent as English and so I asked him where he was from in England. He told me the south. I immediately talked about our fine English bubblies from both RIDGEVIEW Winery and HATTINGLY VALLEY. Then we talked a bit more about how Dick likes a nice wine wiht his mussels, and I thought that the ' Gneiss ' Muscadet Sevre Et Maine 2013, $29.99 from the DOMAINE De L'ECU with 12% alcohol by volume, would be amazing with many different preparations of mussels as they have here on our corner at SAINT ARNOULDS! Yes , si, oui!
I LOVED THE STORY that Dick told me about his brother-in-law, Kenneth. Kenneth would board the ferry with his bike ( no cost to take a bike across the English Channel ) and he would have many bags to stuff with bottles of wine, which he did when he got off the ferry and entered a store there just feet away. He could buy many good bottles of French wine, cross back with them draped in bags hanging from the sides of his bike, get off, pedal home and pay less this way for his wine and start a cellar. Creative, resourceful, love it! Good job, bon travail Kenneth. I wish that Dick had a picture of this to share that would complete the story nicely. Thanks for sharing the story with us Dick. I will post the picture I took of you and Eric shortly on our Facebook page for the store.
